The Association Between Foods And Irritable Bowel Syndrome
There is a common myth that IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is only because of food that we intake, but that is not the case, instead only certain types of food causes the symptoms to appear. The fact is that the syndrome is a functional disorder, i.e. the disease wholly depends upon the operations of your bowels and not upon the food that you intake. Now also researches are not able to find the exact reasons of this symptom.
Thus we will be in a confused state of mind question about the association between foods and symptoms of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
The important point to note here is that, certain kind of food only will induce the symptoms of IBS and they are not responsible for the Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The symptoms of the IBS can be narrated as abdominal cramps, constipation leading to piles, diarrhea etc. also altering the frequency of stools.
Let us see some of the foods that induce the symptoms of IBS:
Fatty food items: A person who has IBS should reduce the fat intake to about 25% and even less than that. Fat can be the most prominent food factor which helps in digestion or which does not get digested. With the fat intake immediately the intestinal tract or colon will start shrinking, thereby ending in a stomach ache. As IBS is highly interconnected with the operations of intestine, this type of action will further induce the symptom of IBS.
Caffeinated drinks: Even decaffeinated coffee drinks consist of an enzyme that can cause irritation to your gut. So avoiding caffeinated drinks only can help in reducing the IBS symptoms. So even drinking coffee regularly shall be avoided in order to get rid of IBS symptom completely.
So ultimately, if there are certain foods that may induce IBS symptoms, there are certain other foods which help in minimizing the symptom.
Now let us further find out what are the foods that help in reducing IBS
Fiber rich food: Eating food which is fiber rich will help in good digestion of food. A few people won’t eat fiber which is soluble, which is mainly because it is considered as purgative (stimulates excretion of faeces). But soluble fiber works well as a stabilizer preventing both constipation and diarrhea.
Often people will only think about the negative consequences of association between food and Irritable Bowel Syndrome, nevertheless it can clearly be proved that taking food alone won’t induce the IBS symptoms. The person having IBS only need to be choosy about foods, as he need to avoid certain food ,while concentrating on some other type of food, thus minimizing the effects of IBS. In order to prevent the indications of Irritable Bowel Syndrome you need to have a balance in your food intake so that it will be beneficial to you. On the contrary, taking the case of insoluble fiber, it will induce the Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Though insoluble fiber is found in both vegetables as well as fruits, it is quite healthy. So people always have the two options, either choose the insoluble fiber which is nutritious or suffer the pain or symptom caused by it, resulting in IBS or denying them completely.
Even so, by eating along with the soluble fiber you can nullify the effect of insoluble fiber and thus can relieve from the pain of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, while still getting the same nourishment which a person requires, all of which talks you about the association of food and the Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
